Webkit is also used to power the Safari browser in iPhone. Developers of open source programs are encouraged to create Android based apps for the Android mobile phones. The developed apps will be made available in the Android Market. Users can download the app by accessing the application library in their Android mobile phone handset. Because the Android operating system is registered under the GPL (General Public License) License, developers are free to make changes and improve the system. However, developers cannot create app that infringe the copyright. For example, an app that imitates the style of the iPhone app is prohibited. There are certain parts of the Android operating system that are protected by the Apache license.
