PCI -E(xpress) cards are the best cards available, today. In order to take advantage of their processing power and clarity; however, you will need an available PCI-E slot on your motherboard. Providing you do, you will enjoy one of the richest graphical experiences once this card is installed.

AGP cards are not quite as advanced as PCI-E slots; but are almost as common. Again, you will need an available AGP slot, on your motherboard, to utilize this type of card. Once this has been determined, you will need to know the max speed your motherboard can handle. When buying this card, make sure you do not exceed this speed; otherwise the card will not work with your system.

A card type that is a bit more outdated would be PCI cards. You would, obviously, need an available PCI slot on your motherboard for this type of card. Unless you have an older system, or motherboard, this PCI cards will not even be an option for you. However, if this is the way you need to go, you can still find a decent variety to choose from.

The final cards are known as integrated.. These are cards are the typical cards that are shipped in a standard computer. If you have made upgrades, when ordering, to your graphics card, you will not have an integrated card. Either way, they are easy to upgrade. Simply figure out what slots you have open, and you know what you need.

Upgrading graphics cards can be a time consuming task, when it comes to variety and options anyhow.
